Did you know one of the biggest uses of donated blood is for mothers during childbirth? Join us at our blood drive at the March for Moms rally to help raise awareness of rising maternal mortality and directly help save the lives of mothers!
The need for blood is constant and increasing: rates of obstetric blood product transfusion have increased by 33% since 2001. More and more moms are requiring blood transfusions to survive childbirth and this blood drive is an opportunity to save their lives!
Look for the Inova Blood bloodmobile on the gravel path on the National Mall at the March for Moms. There will be a registration table outside the bloodmobile to register and complete the required forms to donate blood. You’ll have the opportunity to meet mothers who survived in part by blood transfusions after giving birth and are passionate about sharing their personal stories of why blood donations are so important.
Donate Blood: Plan ahead and make an appointment to donate blood at the March for Moms rally. There is no guarantee there will be availability for walk-ins as there is limited space in the blood mobile. You can book an appointment online or by calling 866-BLOODSAVES (866-256-6372). If you’re not sure if you’re eligible check out the eligibility requirements or call the Inova Blood donor advocate at 571-434-3628.
